Paper Cathedrals: Poems (Wick Poetry First Book Series)
Published in Paperback by Kent State Univ Pr (August, 2001)
Authors: Morri Creech and Li-Young Lee
Average review score:

Transcending Regional Poetry
Paper Cathedrals is beautifully printed and even more beautifully written. These poems are lyrical and idiomatic, private and universal, full of yearning and acceptance. Finally a first book that doesn't smack of workshop. The only first book I know of in which ALL of the poems have been published by our nation's top journals.

awesome first book
i have to rate this book with addonizio's _The Philosopher's Club_ and Kate Light's _Laws of Falling Bodies_ as my favorite first books. It's a powerful work. Most of the poems are religious/spiritual, which Creech handles with a skill you don't see anymore. even if you're like me and don't particularly enjoy religious poems, you'll like these. i wish i had more space here to go more in depth, but you have to get this book.

A Brilliant New Book
This is one of the most moving and beautiful books of poetry I have read in years. It is a collection of deeply felt, often spiritual--in the best sense of the word--meditations. Creech's language is lyrical, at times even ravishing but always exact. There is nothing slipshod here. It's been many years since a book of American poetry this good has been published. If you love beautifully worked language in service of truly serious and important subjects, then this is a book you will read again and again.

The Parables of Kryon
Published in Hardcover by Hay House (November, 1996)
Authors: Kryon and Lee Carroll
Average review score:

A Beautiful Book
I was just amazed at what I was reading and couldn't put it down. And neither will I part with the book. I plan to read it again. Don't miss this one. A Must read.

Inspirational
Kryon is a loving entity currently on earth to help us move into the next phase of a new era. These parables are stories told by Kryon and translated by Lee Carroll to show how many persons are reacting to special circumstances as we move deeper into this century and begin to receive the new gifts of God. You will not find the negativity or cynicism of some channeled entities, and no hard lessons here. This is truly an inspired and inspiring book helping you discover how to come closer to the Great Reality, which seems to some to be a fairy tale like "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." I hope you have an opportunity to read and share this book with those you love.

TREMENDOUS !!
I have re-told these parables countless times to friends, children, people in pain and so on. The spiritual & psychological insights are wonderful and important. The parables read quickly and the messages are very easily grasped. I would recommend it to anyone.

Partnering With God : Practical Information for the New Millennium (Kryon Book Six)
Published in Paperback by Kryon Writings (March, 2001)
Authors: Lee Carroll and Kryon
Average review score:

Another excellent book from Kryon and Lee Carroll
This, the 6th Kryon book (fourth if you don't count the parables), shows us again how Kryon just continues to give us real, actual tools we can use to make our lives better. Continuing on with channels recorded during the past few years, Lee and Kryon give us step-by-step instructions on how to make sure we're in our sweet spots, accept our contracts, and deal with ourselves and others with love and compassion. If you've read the others, don't miss this one!

A message of unending love
I have read all of the Kryon works and am now reading book 7. Each book brings home a simple, unending message for EVERYONE- YOU ARE DEARLY LOVED! Within the words and the spirit that spills forth from the pages is the very essence of the message and hope that was brought to us 2,000 years ago by Jesus, the great master of love- to love one another. And as Kryon says of those who would condemn or disagree with any who are not in the following of their faith- love them just as dearly as you would your only child, for indeed, they are our family and deserve nothing less. We are partners with God co-creating a better world that will benefit all, even those who hate and condemn us. This is the message that Kryon has come to bring us. Is it a new message? No. It is the same message given to us over the eons in a new, more complete way, that we as humans of free-choice, can make that new descision that will bring this world another step closer to being what it truly was hoped to be- paradise on earth. And so it is.

P.S.- Get the Kryon "live channeling" tapes, they are very moving- each filled with understanding and love.

excellent
This book brings a crystal clear message touching me deeply: all drawbacks, problems, etc, are our own tests to stay in balance and peace. You're not judged if you don't make it, the tests are of your own making. The hidden connection to an 'enemy' is often one of love. Kryon calls these tests the contracts you arranged prior to beginning your life. The whole message is stated with much love and clarity. Reading this book helped me forgive in a strenous conflict, giving me more room. Something for which I'm very grateful. Kryon has been channelled three times before a section of the United Nations, these reports are interesting. I read a lot of channeled books, the Kryon work stands out. Defenitely recommendable!

Penny Lee and Her TV
Published in Hardcover by Hyperion Press (April, 2002)
Author: Glenn McCoy
Average review score:

More to Life than Just TV
Glenn McCoy's animated and darling story of Peggy Lee and her dog Mr. Barkley. The problem is that Peggy Lee has a TV. She loves the TV so much she forgets about her best friend, Mr. Barkley. Sad Mr. Barkley loves Penny Lee, but NOT the TV. He does whatever he can to get her attention. But, Penny Lee keeps watching that TV. Then one day Penny Lee's wakes to find her TV screen black and broken. Is it a way Penny Lee must quit her TV watching cold turkey? This is Mr. Barkley's chance to help his best friend. On the way to the repair shop they find fun ways to play with each other. Mr. Barkley is so happy to get his friend back, to do fun stuff with. That night Penny Lee slept and had commercial free dreams.

This is a delightful story for children that teaches the lesson that there is more to life than just TV. If you have a couch potato junkie in your house give them this book to read. Reading is another fun activity that's more creative and educational. Glenn McCoy does an excellent job in telling this story that TV can take away your most important time to do other more important things. What's more important than being with your family and best friends? It's a great big, world out there NOT to enjoy it. McCoy uses his comic skills to create Penny Lee and Mr. Barkley. McCoy is the comic strip cartoonist for the famed 'The Duplex.' I'm sure the young one at home will find this one of their favorites. I just love children's books. This is one of my favorites!

A Must for TV Junkies
My five year old daughter and I enjoy reading this book...ALOT. For any one who likes watching a lot of tv, this really hits home and makes you laugh. It's about a little girl who LOVES her tv shows and one day it "breaks". Her and her dog find lots of other things to have fun with during the day and she even forgets that she is missing her shows eventually. Her dog gets attention and is happy and she has discovered a whole new world out there. Def buy it.

add this to your child's library soon
A very cute story of friendship between a girl and her pet, filled with bright and humorous drawings. Though I am asked to read it by my tots again and again, it entertains us just as much as the first time -- everytime-- read it & you will understand what I mean!

The Power of Ideas: The Heritage Foundation at 25 Years
Published in Hardcover by Jameson Books (February, 1998)
Authors: Lee Edwards, William E. Simon, and William F., Jr. Buckley
Average review score:

A great history of a great organization....
I first heard of the Heritage Foundation while at college when I read a booklet by analyst Dan Mitchell about the flat tax. Intrigued, I started reading about Heritage. When I got my hands on this book, I immediately devoured it. It is an eminently readable history of one the greatest; if not the greatest; conservative think tanks in America.

Edwards starts at the beginning when Ed Feulner and others wanted to found a think tank to get ideas and papers out fast and timely. He follows through the troubled 70s into the triumphent 80s when Reagan became president. HE looks at the ideas Heritage put forth and how it did not hesitate to criticize Reagan if he went wrong. He follows through the Bush administration and into the 90s. This, like Feulner's book about conservative thought is a must read for all conservatives!

The Pen is Indeed Mightier Than the Sword: Ideas Do Matter
Lee Edwards has cranked out another gem on the history of American conservatism. I submit that one could say that he has taken up where the late Russell Kirk left off. In any case, Edwards is to be commended for bringing the history and role of The Heritage Foundation to light. And The Heritage Foundation is to be commended and praised for its significant contribution towards the propagation of conservative values and ensuring a conservative trend in public policy. I dearly hope that Edwards' concluding assessment is accurate, namely that Heritage will continue to play a substantial role in moving mainstream thought back towards the fundamental and enduring principles that are the foundation of American culture, economics, and society. And may God continue to bless Heritage with a steady flow of brilliant public policy experts willing to devote their energies towards advancing conservative values. And may God also bless Heritage with the type of brilliant leadership that it has received from Dr. Ed Feulner. And may the conservative movement continue to be blessed with historians willing to document the life and times of our heroic predecessors.

The best guide to understanding The Heritage Foundation.
Lee Edward's "The Power of Ideas: The Heritage Foundation at 25 Years" is the definitive book to read if one wishes to understand the rise of conservative ideas in America. The Heritage Foundation helped, by embodying the principles of Lincoln, Roosevelt (Theodore), Nixon, and Reagan. Their work in shaping United States domestic and foreign policy is impressive. Lee Edward's book will inspire people in making America the place where freedom reigns and the individual and not the government holds the power. I hope the people who read this book have similar thoughts and ideas on how to make America GREAT. I also wish this book will rank next to "Democracy in America" in time.

Praying God's Will For My Daughter

Author: Lee Roberts

Together
Mom is older now and every day I call her. She reads that days prayer to me before we hang up the phone. After she reads it I say "back at you Mom, I love you". It is good. She appreciates the scriptural reference to the promises that God has made to us according to His Word. Everyday brings us closer.

This book re-energized our prayer life!
My wife and I used Praying God's Will For My Daughter to help us pray for our adopted children even before they came to the US. It helped us bless them and increased our bonding with them.

One of our favorite prayers was "We pray that neither death nor life, nor angels or principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate our daughter from the love of you God, which is in Christ Jesus, her Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

A Book Every Christian Parent Should Keep at Their Bedside!
Praying God's Will For My Daughter and Praying God's Will For My Son by Lee Roberts are wonderful books that every Christian parent should keep on their bedside table. They're organized by topic and lead you in praying Bible scriptures for your child. You can know you're praying God's will when you pray scripture. These books REALLY helped my prayer life to grow.

Rebel Writer: Secrets of the Extraordinary Life Hidden in the Page
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (December, 1999)
Author: Lee Travathan
Average review score:

Rebel Writer, Secrets of the Extraordinary Life ...
You can say I am living proof that Lee's book works. I was compelled to write ("on the page") the exercises, way before this book came to being. I am one of a few who suggested she ought to write this book. From the very beginning of our meetings, I began the journey to be the writer I am today. I wouldn't have published if it weren't for her persistent guidance that sensitive gentle encouraging push writers constantly crave & need. I am a proud writer to my SELF. I know what I am capable of doing and I am going to do it. Trash those rejections slips buddy.... I'm coming through! Thanks, Lee!

Rebel Writer -- Rebel Reader
Lee Travathan in this book teaches writing. Not tired and boring writing technique, any of a number of books can teach you that, but the soul of writing. That is, getting the words in your heart onto the page.

Through a series of essays taken from her own life story and excercises designed to open your heart to the page, Travathan leads you into the very core of the experience of writing, how the writer reveals herself to the page and the page to the writer. Don't be misled by the informal style or spiritual language, Travathan's theory of writing has a strong pedigree, harkening back to the stream-of-consciousness writing of James Joyce, William Faulkner and Virginia Woolf.

Raw, emotional, powerful and often painful, this book is a joy to read, sweeping you up in a whirlwind of memory only to set you down on solid ground and then urging you to fly on your own. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to anyone who wants to express themselves on the page, be it in a novel, a screen play, or only in their own journal. Or, in Lee Travathan's own words, "Write anywhere. Write everywhere. Write everything."

Rebel Writer by Lee Travathan
If you aspire to be a writer, Lee's book will inspire you. She affirms you don't have to be published to be a writer. And you can let your rebelliousness out by writing whatever you want, however you want to write it, even if nobody reads it but you. You'll be touched by a lot of things she writes, including the love letter in her chapter called "lovers". And in a chapter aptly titled "things that boggle the mind" she recounts how she was subtly threatened with a lawsuit if she wrote a book about how the films made by one particular actor have inspired several people. There is something in the book for every writer and aspiring writer. Check it out.
